teaching

I teach individual lessons and give talks and workshops about natural vision work. In a lesson, the gentle relaxation and movement techniques are tailored to the needs of the individual. This is the best way to learn the methods and apply them successfully. Workshops and talks are a good way to find out the basics and explore practice in a group.

Voicing Our Vision
clarity through relaxation
Thursday 29th October 2009
International Conference for Holistic Vision, Spa, Belgium
A powerful self-development workshop and presentation using relaxation, awareness, movement and voice.
We believe in the power of people's natural vision and voice to inform and guide their physical, emotional and spiritual journey. Exploring vision through the voice can free blockages and encourage personal exploration and growth. We work from the principle that relaxation and expression bring with them aliveness, healing and a spiritual beauty instantly recognisable to those experiencing and witnessing it. Our hopes for the work is that it will help people to heal hurts, fulfil potential, grieve losses, celebrate joy, express individuality and to share as a group.
In April 2008, 6 natural vision teachers (all recent graduates from the College of Vision Education) came together in Glasgow, Scotland for 2 days of sharing and learning which was fun, sad, profound, energising, clarifying and inspiring. One of our sessions was led by Susan Worsfold. We were guided through breathing, relaxation, movement, singing and speaking. Our awareness of ourselves and the world around us was expanded and many of us were surprised at the power of our voices and our ability to express ourselves when our attention was brought to our voice. Some of us also experienced clear flashes of vision whilst doing the work. A very enlivening and inspiring workshop. After the success of this workshop, Anna and Susan continued their research work together to learn more about each others work and to deepen their collaboration.
'I was astounded at the power of the voice and breathing in shifting emotion.'
'I found the voice I always knew I had.'
'Amazing to experience the energy of someone's voice being expressed clearly. It helped bring me into focus.'
- comments from participants at a previous workshop.
Susan's training is with the Voice Studio International and the techniques she uses explore all aspects of voice with an emphasis on relaxation. Anna Bambridge trained in the Bates Method of Vision Education. In describing the voice work there is the concept of being in the very centre of the sound with all the surrounding resonance. There is a parallel between this idea and that of central fixation of vision where there is a centre point of clear detail within the surrounding peripheral field. For full clear and relaxed use of the voice and the vision both the centre, the surround and the balance between them are crucial.
This workshop will give participants first hand experience of working with their voices in a therapeutic and supportive setting. While using the voice techniques awareness of vision and overall energy will be important. The workshop will start with a physical relaxation warm up and group introduction to moving and energy before continuing onto the detailed exploration of each person's own unique voice with the emphasis always on release. While exploring the voice because of the holistic nature of life, the person’s unique vision can also be explored.
This work has many applications. For an individual who feels stuck on his or her vision journey this technique can offer a radical release with a shift of emphasis away from the eyes and towards the whole person. It adds useful metaphors into the vision healing conversation and helps people have the confidence and ability to communicate their experiences thus helping to tell more people about the potential of holistic vision healing.
